A new community initiative, Pollinator Pathways at Guild Park & Gardens, will combine free native plants, community engagement, and hands-on environmental action at a day-long event in September.

The national Park People Nature Connect Fund recently awarded Friends of Guild Park a grant to plan and deliver this imaginative day-long event on Sunday, September 20.
The idea was developed in partnership with the Guildwood Butterflyway Project and builds on the success these two groups achieved by establishing Guild Park’s award-winning Pollinator Garden.
Pollinator Pathways will make available approximately 1,000 native plants to community members, encouraging residents to get involved. With these free flowers, people will be able to create pollinator-friendly habitats in their own gardens, balconies, and shared spaces.
The event will also feature interactive learning stations, nature talks, and practical demonstrations focused on native plants, pollinator relationships, and urban biodiversity. Plans call for people to map out where their individual plantings will go to show how they are contributing to a broader network of habitat across the community.
By connecting small, local actions into a larger ecological network, the project reflects a simple but powerful idea: that collective stewardship can strengthen biodiversity across entire neighbourhoods. Watch for more details throughout the summer.
