Guild Park Reps Honoured "By Command of the King" Charles III

Four Canadians active at Guild Park recently received King Charles III Commemorative Coronation Medals and certificates "in recognition of your valuable contribution to your country."

Segin (right), Co-Artistic Directors, Guild Festival Theatre, recently received specially-minted silver medals from Government of Canada representative, John McKay (centre), Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Guildwood.

Earlier this year Guildwood resident, Prince Kumar, received the King's Coronation Medal from Canada's Governor General, Mary Simon, for his work improving Canadians' well-being. Prince and his wife, Sarah Safaei, founded the social enterprise Nature's Zeal. The couple launched one of their popuiar meditative programs at Guild Park in 2024. These medals mark the 2023 coronation of King Charles III, who is Canada's Head of State. The Government of Canada is awarding these custom-designed medals to 30,000 Canadians who benefit their country and communities.

The Canadian Mint manufactured the medals, which features a crowned image of King Charles III wearing coronation robes. The attached red, blue and white ribbon shows the colours of Great Britain's flag. This is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.

Eighteen people from the Scarborough-Guildwood community received these Coronation Medals from MP John McKay at the November ceremony, hosted at Guild Park's Guild Inn Estate.

It's notable that Guild Park is where many local Coronation medalists serve their communities.

This shows how the 88-acre park is regaining its important role as the hub for popular artistic and inspiring activities.

It also continues the life dream of the late Rosa and Spencer Clark, the philanthropists who founded the historic Guild of All Arts artists' community on the site in 1932.
