How active adults enjoyed one of Guild Park's New Horizons activities

Walking, discovering Guild Park and making new friends — that was a winning combination for dozens of participants during this summer's Activity Walks.

Sixteen Monday morning walks from mid-June through September attracted more than 100 participants - some new, many repeat visitors - who explored Guild Park's trails, pathways and forest boardwalks, with plenty of time afterwards to relax and chat with friends at the park's Sculptor's Cabin.

Organized by Friends of Guild Park and funded through the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), the walks welcomed active adults aged 55 and older.

Participants particularly enjoyed the social experience, sharing juice and fresh fruit after each easy 3-km walk. Their comments about favourite moments included “getting together as a group,” “walking outdoors with new friends” and enjoying “nature with others.”

The walks show something simple and special: Guild Park isn't just a place to visit. It's a place to explore, learn, connect with others — and keep moving.
