Over several years, Friends of Guild Park and the Guildwood Village Community Association (GVCA) have expressed strong community interest in seeing more opportunities for public hospitality and informal gathering at Guild Park, in keeping with the site’s tradtional role as a welcoming cultural and social destination and the literal heart of Guildwood Village.

Building on this long-standing interest, local resident Carl Doose — a board member of Friends of Guild Park and the GVCA — took the initiative to engage directly with Guild Inn Estate. Carl and the facility's principals together explored practical, community-focused ways the public could enjoy the restored century-old building. Through these discussions, Guild Inn Estate identified an opportunity to pilot a series of Summer Patio Sessions in 2026, starting in June.

The Summer Patio Sessions are entirely operated by Guild Inn Estate, including scheduling, food service, entertainment, and on-site management. Friends of Guild Park and the GVCA are supporting the initiative by helping share information with their members, residents, and the public.

This pilot represents a positive, collaborative step toward strengthening local community engagement and goodwill at Guild Park. It reflects the value of constructive dialogue, partnership, and shared interest in creating welcoming experiences that benefit park visitors, neighbours, and on-site partners alike.

Friends of Guild Park looks forward to supporting the success of the Summer Patio Sessions and to continued collaboration with Guild Inn Estate, community partners, and the City of Toronto in fostering accessible, vibrant experiences at Guild Park.
