After a long and demanding winter, Guild Park is emerging into the new season—and it’s the perfect moment to take a closer look.

As part of a new initiative, Friends of Guild Park is launching a “State of Guild Park” Walk and Audit on Sunday, April 19. This free guided walk offers a unique opportunity to explore the park while helping to assess its current condition using the same kinds of standards applied by City Parks staff. Together, we’ll look at everything from pathways and gathering areas to benches, trail systems, and overall visitor experience—building a clearer, shared understanding of how the park is performing as we head into the busy spring and summer season.

This is not just a walk—it’s a chance to actively contribute to the stewardship of Guild Park. By observing and documenting what we see, participants will help move us beyond informal impressions toward a more consistent, evidence-based picture of park conditions.

It’s also a rewarding way to experience the park differently: exploring familiar and lesser-known areas, from the Cultural Gardens to the trail in the west woods, noticing details that are often overlooked, and gaining insight into how a large public landscape is maintained. Whether you’re a regular visitor or new to Guild Park, you’ll come away with a deeper appreciation of both its strengths and the areas where attention is needed.

We invite you to join us for this engaging and purposeful spring walk. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy, comfortable footwear, as we will be outdoors for the full duration of the walk. Bringing a camera or phone is strongly encouraged so you can help document conditions along the route. With your participation, we can help track Guild Park’s ongoing improvements—while enjoying a thoughtful and energizing walk together.
