How do you rate a park?

Not just how it looks—but how well it’s actually working.
Tomorrow afternoon (Sun. Apr. 19), join us at Guild Park as we begin to answer that question.
Friends of Guild Park is launching our first-ever State of the Guild Park Walk—a new way of experiencing the 88-acre site by looking at it through a different lens.
This isn’t just a walk.
It’s a chance to see the park the way planners, stewards, and city teams do—by noticing how everything functions together:
Trails and pathways
Benches and gathering spaces
Signage and access points
Public art and landscape features
The small details that shape the overall experience

We’ll follow a 3 km route through multiple areas of the park, using simple guides to begin building a clearer picture of how Guild Park is performing after the winter—and where attention may be needed.
This approach is inspired by similar tracking initiatives in place at other destination parks including:
👉 Toronto's popular and well-designed, Love Park, near the waterfront; and
👉 the long-standing stewardship efforts of dedicated volunteers and staff in New York City's Central Park, where ongoing monitoring ensures one of the great urban parks continues to improve and function at a high level.
Tomorrow at Guild Park marks a first-time pilot effort -- and that’s what makes it interesting.
If you’re curious about Guild Park…
If you enjoy walking it…
Or if you want to understand this unique site in a deeper, more practical way—
this is a great walk to join.

🗓 Sunday, April 19 at 1:00 pm
📍 Start: Sculptor’s Cabin (215 Guildwood Pkwy) – near the park flagpole
🕐 Tour will be about one hour (approx)
✔ Free parking available on-site
Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear—we’ll be outdoors for the full walk, and some damp conditions are expected.
We’ll observe and informally track conditions. Participation is optional. Curiosity is essential -- no special skills or knowledge is required.
If you’d like to take part, bring a pencil (or two!).
And remember your phone or camera—your photos can help document what we see.
👉 Pre-registration helps us plan:
This walk is made possible by volunteers who care deeply about Guild Park. If you value initiatives like this, consider becoming a member or supporting Friends of Guild Park.
Come out, take part, and start seeing Guild Park differently in 2026.
