Fragments of a City: Architecture, Memory and Place at Guild Park

This summer, Friends of Guild Park will once again partner with Heritage Toronto to present guided public tours at Guild Park & Gardens.

The new tour, Fragments of a City, explores how architectural pieces from demolished Toronto buildings were preserved and reimagined within Guild Park’s landscape along the Scarborough Bluffs. As visitors walk through the park, they'll encounter columns, sculptural panels, and other fragments that once formed part of banks, civic buildings, and commercial landmarks across the city.

The tour highlights the artistic vision behind Guild Park, the work of notable sculptors such as Florence Wyle and Emanuel Hahn, and the stories preserved in the park’s unique collection of architectural fragments. Two Heritage Toronto plaques — the Guild of All Arts plaque and the recently installed Greek Theatre plaque — also help anchor the narrative.

Participants will discover how Guild Park offers a rare opportunity to reflect on Toronto’s changing architectural landscape, and how fragments from the past continue to shape our understanding of the city’s history and identity.

Heritage Toronto is offering this tour twice this summer, tentatively scheduled for:

●       Sunday, July 19 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

●       Saturday, August 15 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Get ready to reserve your spot when Heritage Toronto opens its online registration to the public later this spring.

Friends of Guild Park looks forward to welcoming visitors from across the city to explore the park’s remarkable pieces of Toronto’s architectural heritage.
