About the event
Friends of Guild Park is excited to once again partner with the Guildwood Butterflyway Project, the Guildwood Village Community Association, and the City of Toronto Urban Forestry Department for the annual Pollinator Week Tree, Shrub & Wildflower Giveaway at Guild Park & Gardens.
This popular community event gives Toronto residents the opportunity to receive FREE native trees and shrubs for planting on private property within the city. Native plants play a critical role in supporting birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife while also helping expand Toronto’s urban tree canopy and improve local air quality.
This year’s giveaway takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Guild Park & Gardens in Scarborough.
Pre-Ordering Required — Deadline May 15
All trees and shrubs must be reserved in advance no later than Friday, May 15, 2026.
Demand for the program has been extremely strong every year, with supplies regularly selling out before the deadline. Residents are encouraged to place their orders as soon as possible to ensure availability of their preferred species.
For further information and to pre-order, please visit our Eventbrite page.
Trees and shrubs are provided in convenient 1–2 gallon containers and are small enough to transport by TTC or standard vehicle.
Each household may reserve a maximum of four trees and/or shrubs in total, with a limit of two per species. Orders exceeding these limits may be cancelled.
Pickup will take place at Guild Park & Gardens, located at 201 Guildwood Parkway, on Saturday, June 13 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Organizers are unable to hold plants for late pickup or arrange alternate pickup times.
Native Wildflower Giveaway Also Returning
In addition to the pre-ordered trees and shrubs, attendees can also take part in a special native wildflower giveaway made possible through the generous support of the Toronto Chapter of Landscape Ontario.
Native wildflowers provide essential food and habitat for pollinators throughout the growing season and are an excellent addition to home gardens.
The wildflower giveaway will operate on a first-come, first-served basis during the June 13 event while supplies last. Each attendee may receive up to two wildflower plants.
Families are encouraged to attend and learn more about how small changes in home gardens can make a significant difference for pollinators and local biodiversity.
Supporting the Community
Organizers will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank during the event. Community members attending the giveaway are encouraged to bring an item if they are able to help support local families facing food insecurity.
